How to TREAT Your Dogs for the Holidays!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of The J.M. Smucker Company. The opinions and text are all mine.

I can’t believe it’s that time again! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the holidays! I just can’t believe it’s already been a year since I was wrapping presents and decorating my tree!

As most of you know, we have two labs, a black one, Stokely, and a white one, Warhol. We call them “pupples,” even though they’re not really puppies anymore! We got them when they were just a few weeks years old, I can’t believe they’re going to be eleven this year- gosh time flies!

Stokely, our black lab, is the most lovable, the most well-behaved dog and the literal definition of man’s best friend. He loves to play fetch, almost never barks and wags his tail so much you’d swear it would fall off! He loves people more than anything in the world and would be completely content if every human he ever met would pet him relentlessly for at least a solid 24 hours. If you looked up “Best Dog in the World” in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Stokely.

And then we have Warhol… the odd ball, the adorably uncoordinated and the only dog I’ve ever known who pounces like a cat, doesn’t want to be pet, stands off in the distance judging you and of course- doesn’t like to fetch. He is such a character and definitely has a unique personality! He’s also incredibly smart and of course he’s very attentive when there’s food involved… But he loves Stokely even more than he loves food which is saying something! If Stokely is ever at the vet, Warhol will cry the entire time until his buddy comes home!

Our labs mean everything to us. They have been a part of the family for so long, it’s hard to imagine a holiday season before they were around! When we first got them, we surprised my sister with them on Christmas morning, so my family always gets extra sentimental with our dogs around this time of year. This holiday season, I wanted to do something extra special for my furry friends! And it’s something fun and easy that the kids or the rest of the family can help with! Here’s how to assemble a holiday stocking or gift basket for your four legged pals!

Listicle for Pupples Surprise! (What You Need):

  • Milk-Bone Flavor Snacks
  • Pup-Peroni Original Beef Flavor
  • Canine Carry Outs, Bacon
  • Holiday stocking or gift basket
  • Fun toys for your furry friends!

Steps 1-2-3, Easy Peasy Assembling! (How to Make):

  1. Fill your stocking or gift basket with festive goodies.
  2. Decorate stocking or gift tag with your puppy(ies) names for a personal touch.
  3. If making a basket, wrap with clear plastic wrap and top with a shiny ribbon or bow. (the icing on the cake, or... better yet- topping to your tree)

That's it! Like I said, super easy and fun and a great way to make your dogs feel special this holiday! You can get really artsy or creative with your DIY decorative skills, but my dogs are chewers so I didn't want to get too attached to my creation, since I knew they would immediately want to tear into it and go straight for the treats! I couldn't resist buying them for my dogs during my trip to Walmart. They go absolutely crazy for these snacks. They are all located in the dog treat aisle along with some other goodies I just had to buy for my good boys!

I love shopping at Walmart because they carry all of our favorite brands. Milk-Bone Flavor Snacks feature the same teeth cleaning and vitamin-enriched goodness of Milk-Bone Original biscuits in five delicious flavors your dog will love! They're produced in Buffalo, New York and are great for dogs of all sizes. Your dog always does so much to show you their unconditional love. Return that expression of love by treating with a yummy Milk-Bone biscuit. Shop it here.

Pup-Peroni is also a brand my dogs have been loving for years. I love that real beef is the #1 ingredient and they're made with more real beef* (than the leading competitor) and a mouthwatering aroma. It's no wonder dogs simply can't resist Pup-Peroni Original Beef Flavor dog snacks, so don't forget to take a package along so you can treat your Pup wherever you pal around! Sharing Pup-Peroni is a great way to provide contagious joy for both dogs & dog parents. Shop it here.

Canine Carry Outs is another brand of dog treats I've been buying at Walmart that my dogs can't get enough of. Your dog loves the snacks you carry home in a doggie bag. So reward him every day with Canine Carry Outs Bacon Flavor chewy snacks for dogs! They're made with real bacon, are perfectly sized treats for taking on the go, and offer a delicious aroma and chewy texture that dogs love. Plus they're made in the USA! Shop it here.
